Macadamia NutsThe macadamia nut is a native of Australia. It was known
by a number of names such as 'bopple' and 'Bauple' as well as by its Aboriginal
names 'kindal kindal' and 'baupul'. It has been seriously cultivated in
Hawaii since 1892.
In comparison with other nuts the macadamia provides the richest source of oil as this represents 70% of its weight. The oil may be used for cosmetic purposes. Because of the rich saturated fat content this nut combines well with ingredients of seafood recipes. |
