Chocolate butter cream frosting

  Ingredients

  • ½ cup cocoa
  • ¼ cup boiling water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tspn vanilla
  • ½ cup butter; softened

  Preparation and Cooking Instructions

  1. Dissolve cocoa with hot water. Beat sugar with cocoa mixture. Add yolks and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
  2. Place in bowl of ice and water. Add butter, in 3-4 additions, beating until frosting is lighter in color and thick enough to spread.
  3. Frost cake and refrigerate to set or use for piping .
