Ingredients :
- ½ of a large head of cabbage
- ½ cup butter flavored crisco
- 1 small onion, chopped
- ½ cup flour
- ¾ cup milk
- ¾ cup chicken broth
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tspn sugar
- 2 tbsp table mustard
- 1 tspn salt
Preparation and Cooking Instructions :
- Cut ½ of a large head of cabbage into chunks in a large saucepan
and cover with water. Cover & simmer until tender
- Meanwhile, in a saucepan, melt ½ cup Butter Flavored Crisco.
- Saute 1 small chopped onion in the Crisco then stir in ½ cup
flour. Stir constantly for a minute or 2, then add the remaining ingredients.
- Stir sauce into drained cabbage.
- Place in a casserole, and covered with buttered crumbs (see note)
- Bake at 375°F for about 30 minutes.
- Cooks Note : To make buttered crumbs; combine 4 tbsp Butter
Flavored Crisco and 2 cups of crumbs in a saucepan. Heat and mix well
