Meat and nut filling ~ Hashweh

Serves : 2 cups Cooking time : 35 minutes

Ingredients :

  • 3 tbsp ghee or substitute
  • ½ cup pine nuts
  • 2 medium onions
  • 500g meat, coarsely ground or finely chopped
  • 2 tspn salt
  • ¼ tspn pepper
  • ½ tspn mixed spices
  • ¼ tspn ground cinnamon

Preparation and Cooking Instructions

  1. Heat the ghee in a pan and lightly brown the pine nuts. Remove and set aside
  2. Add the meat to the ghee and fry for a few minutes until raw look disappears. Before the meat browns, mix in the chopped onions, salt, pepper, mixed spice and cinnamon. Cover, turn down to medium heat and continue to cook until meat is very tender and the juices are absorbed - approx. 20-25 minutes.
  3. Remove from the heat and mix in the pine nuts.
