Walnut recipes

The European walnut differs from the American walnut in that the former variety has less protein but about the same number of calories. France and Italy are leading producers in Europe. Californian walnuts descend from Persian walnuts.
Walnuts and walnut oil, because of their high polyunsaturated oil content, are recommended for people with high cholesterol. Like pecans they combine well with vegetable dishes such as the famous Waldorf salad, as well as being used widely in cakes and desserts.
